Trading Germans
246.000 Germans from Romania were secretly sold to Germany between 1968 and 1989. Romania lost a 850 year old German tradition on its territory and gained in return 1,5-3 billion Deutschmark. Trading Germans out of Romania: a humanitarian act? A reprehensible transaction? A film about the only breach through the Iron Curtain that remained open for 22 years. A film about roots, courage, greed and remorse.

About the artists
Director, screenwriter, producer, Răzvan Georgescu grew up in Timișoara. He studied philology at the University of Bucharest. Joined his wife in Frankfurt am Main, Germany in 1990. Worked as a director and producer of documentaries and cultural programmes for ARTE, ARD, TVR, ZDF. Films: Metropolis (1998-2005), Fenomenul H.P. (2003), Decreţeii. Născuţi la comandă/ Children of the Decree (cu/with Florin Iepan/2005), Testimonial/Testimony (2008/2009), etc. Various national and international prizes and awards.
