The Tiger of Our Town

Duration 70′

Calendar

Tuesday 13/11/2012 from 21:00 to 22:10

The escape of a Siberian tiger from Sibiu’s Zoo, in December 2011, has inspired our show. After spending three hours of freedom roaming through the nearby woods, the she-tiger Mihaela was found by the emergency teams and deadly shot, in spite of the initial attempt to tranquilizing her. We felt that this interesting trivia brought to light several fundamental themes permeating our society: captivity versus liberty, the “errors” within the system, as well as the tensions between center and periphery. Through the background research interviews, we’ve tried to capture the way in which the eye of a “stranger” meets the realities of a nowadays European city: the perspective of the minorities, of those that are different, of the outsiders, and of nonconformists.
