Real vs. Realism; Strategies to Create Empathy and Intimacy

For 5 days, a group of 12 actors will explore, under the leadership of Theodor-Cristian Popescu and Florin Fieroiu, ways of creating scenic situations based on film-acting elements and performative elements. The aim of the workshop is widening the means of expression and creative strategies to address acting creation through contemporary texts and the ability to discuss applied to a subject. Participants will prepare a scene from a contemporary text for the workshop.

About the artists

Theodor-Cristian Popescu produced over forty shows in Romania,the United States, and Canada. He teaches art direction and acting at UNATC Bucharest, University of Montana, Canadian National Theater School, University of Quebec in Montreal, and the University of Acting and Theater from Târgu-Mureș. Theodor-Cristian Popescu founded and managed two independent theater companies in Bucharest and Montreal.

Florin Fieroiu graduated from the Academy ofTheatre and Film – Bucharest, Department of Choreography. He was co-founder of Contemporary Dance Company “Marginalii”. In 1996 he received ”Le Prix d’Interpretation Individuel” in the framework of the 5th edition of ”The International Choreographers Meetings”in Paris and in 2008 the UNITER Senate Award for choreography in performing arts. The workshop is organized with the support of the Theater and Television Faculty, Babeș-Bolyai University .
