Three couples deal with completely different situations that unfold in the same enclosed space: their cars. The characters in Autobahn find themselves in the middle of some life-altering conversations that will shatter their daily routines. As LaBute’s play offers multiple possibilities of interpretation on the texts subtleties, we find that, in this particular case, the director has chosen a discretely comical approach. Going back and forth between comic moments of cynical come-backs and scenes that accumulate tension, the performance generates varied reactions in the audience, which also finds itself experiencing contradicting emotions.
