More than ever in the last century, performing arts and artists themselves are faced with the need of questioning their own way of action and their positioning within an increasingly troubled society. And those who write about theater, dance and performance are becoming themselves a mirror of these searches – why and how are we writing about performing arts, why and how are they (still) relevant in the contemporary post-crisis society.

We offer a journey in the pursuit of possible questions: what and how are the conditions of production of performing arts changing and how is this influencing artistic creation? What is the status of the artist in our increasingly neoliberal world? Who is our audience today and tomorrow, what do we have to say and how?
