10x Romanian Theatre

A dynamic and interesting landscape, the contemporary Romanian theatre is not very known outside its borders. That’s the reason why the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw edited in 2011 a first introductory DVD, with interviews and trailers of 10 performances. The selection compiles different dimensions of the state of the Romanian theatre today (all the performances are still running) in its diversity: of acting and directorial styles, textual approaches, social and political stakes, conditions and scale of production. On the other hand, the selection gives a glimpse on the multicultural aspect of the Romanian artistic scene: many important shows are produced in Hungarian-speaking or German-speaking theatres; Romania also has an Yiddish-speaking state theatre, and this linguistic complexity of our stages makes the uniqueness of the Romanian theatre in Europe.

The DVD runs in original language (Romanian, Hungarian or German), with Polish and English subtitles, presentations and technical riders.
