Editing History

Editing History proposes an interdisciplinary approach to the ways that art and culture can bring a more profound and complex understanding of History. Used as a subject in creation, History generates reflections on the way we build an image of the present, but also on what we currently understand when referring to it.

We offer the occasion of rethinking history through art. Using Romania’s past as a starting point and permanently contextualising it as part of European history, we take history as a source of inspiration for artistic discourse. History becomes work material for artists, and art – an interpretive method among others (sociological, anthropological…), with the added benefit of appealing to emotional knowledge, which is discursively mediated.
